Level 1 Coach

Who is it for?
For potential and trainee coaches, the Level 1 qualification will get you started:
​What it will enable you to do?
  • Enables individuals to work towards becoming an Assistant Coach
  • Must be 16 years old or over
  • Minimum of a 2nd Kyu (blue belt)
  • Duration is 2 days with additional 1 day assessment
  • Introduction to coaching theory and technical skills of judo
  • Provided with DVD and judo literature
  • Participants must also complete a First Aid qualification and a Safeguarding and Protecting Children Workshop for your BJA licence to coach.
  • Following the successful completion of this coaching course, you will be awarded a formal qualification from the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA).

Level 2 Coach

Who is it for?
For Level 1 qualified coach, BJA club you can start working towards your Level 2 qualification:
What will it enable you to do?
  • Ideal for those wishing to work towards becoming a club coach
  • Able start a club
  • Must be over 17 years old
  • Minimum grade of 1st Kyu (Brown belt)
  • Duration is 4 days with additional 1 day assessment
  • Increases your depth of judo skills' knowledge
  • Provided with DVD and judo literature
  • Participants must also complete a First Aid qualification and a Safeguarding and Protecting Children Workshop for your BJA licence to coach.
  • Following the successful completion of all coaching courses, you will be awarded a formal qualification from the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA).
